Maggie playing with water

This week the P1 class have been learning all about capacity.  It was lots of fun playing in the water and the children tried very hard not to get my fur wet!

The children can confidently say if a container is full or empty.

We had lots of fun working out how many cupfuls different containers will hold.

The children can confidently say which container holds more and which container holds less.

In the Wilderness Garden...

It was another sunny day in Keith, so we took Coco into our Wilderness Garden. We showed him our clay beasties which were made by our pottery friend Nick, especially for the garden wall. Coco's favourite was the Buff-Tailed Bumble Bee. Does your school have any good places for bugs and beasties?

On Monday our school Eco-group planted some trees in the garden and Coco checked to see if they were still healthy and growing. After checking the trees we played a little game of Hide & Seek, it was hard to find Coco because he was camouflaged against the trees!

One of the trees had a hole in the trunk so Coco went to explore. He was disappointed that it wasn't Winnie the Pooh's house and there was no honey, instead there were only bugs and creepy crawlies!

Coco was very tired from all his adventures and had a snooze on the compost heap. Phew, what a busy day!

Maggie's weekend adventure with Maddex

On Friday I got to go home with Maddex and spend the weekend with him.  We went to his Nana's house and I got to try pizza for the first time.  It was very tasty!

On Saturday Maddex took me to his Junior Chef class.  He made some cheese scones, and I helped.  Later we went to the Moray Firth, under the Kessock Bridge, to see if we could see any dolphins.  Maddex took his binoculars to help him look.  The dolphins were hiding, but we did manage to see a seal!

On Sunday I had lots of fun playing with a parachute that Maddex and his mum made for me!

Maggie's special theme week at Cauldeen Primary

This week at Cauldeen Primary, the whole school was taking part in a special theme week called Grandparents' Gifts.  Each class had a different decade to research from the 50s up to the 80s and it was lots of fun finding out what it was like for the children's grandparents growing up.

The children got to take part in lots of exciting activities that their grandparents enjoyed when they were young, and they took me along as well.

We got to make a big pot of tasty soup with Mrs MacLeod.  The children all helped prepare and peel the vegetables.

The children iced and decorated some yummy cakes for a tea party held for the parents and grandparents.

Look at the fantastic job they did!

The P1 class were finding out all about the 1950s and looked at the toys children liked to play with.

The children made their own paper dress up dolls to play with.  They were quite tricky to cut out and we had to be so careful when we were playing with them, so they wouldn't rip.

We found out that Barbie was created in 1959 and was named after the creator's daughter Barbara.

One of our favourite toys is Lego and it was created in 1955.  We had a fun afternoon making models with Lego.

The children also had a go at making pom poms.  When the children were finished they turned them into cute chicks!

It was a very busy week, filled with lots of fun activities.  I can't wait to find out what we're doing next week!

Nessie Visits Local Tourist Spots!

The students went to three popular tourist places in Dundee and took them with me! It was an exciting day and I had great fun. They filmed their tour so that children can learn about The Law Hill, Broughty Ferry Castle and The Discovery Ship.

I found out a lot about where I have been living and loved the day!

Maggie's weekend adventure with Jack

I am just back to Cauldeen after an incredibly busy weekend with Jack.  We had lots of fun together and I enjoyed sharing my adventure with the P1 class.

On Friday after school I went to Jack's granny's house and helped to move lots of logs for her.  It was hard work but afterwards, as a treat, we made a delicious chocolate cake.  My favourite part was licking the bowl clean!

On Saturday Jack's pet rabbit, Black Ears, had to be taken to the vet to have her teeth trimmed.  While I was there I tripped and hurt my paw.  Luckily the nice vet looked after me and put a bandage on my sore paw.

If you look carefully you can see my pink bandage under my seat belt.
Later on Saturday I helped Jack's uncle drive his digger.  He wanted me to dig a big hole.  It was really high up sitting in the driver's seat.
I also got to ride on a motorbike!  It was lots of fun and Jack held onto me really carefully so that I wouldn't fall off and hurt my other paw.

By Sunday I was glad to have a quiet day at home with Jack.  We sat and read his reading book.  It was an exciting story about dolphins and killer-whales.

Nessie Goes To The Library!

This week the students have been very busy writing essays and so I have been with them in the library.

Dundee University library is huge and has lots and lots of books and computers, I could get lost there for weeks. Perfect for a game of hide and seek!

The students taught me all about taking books out at the library.

1. Go to a library computer and search for the book you want to find.
2. Find the number your book is and go and find it on the shelves.
3. Take the book to a special scanner which reads the barcode and puts the book on your account.

You can check on the computer how many books you have out and when they need to be taken back so that other students can read the book too.

Now I can read as many books as I like!

Coco Helps Us Get Ready For Mothers' Day

This week Coco watered our daffodil bulbs which we are selling to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. We have also coloured in boxes and filled them with Nasturtium seeds wrapped in tissue paper. We will be selling all these flowers for presents for Mothers' Day, this Sunday. Coco has helped us to decorate a banner for our stall so it is bright and colourful for everyone to see! We hope our Mums enjoy their presents! Did your class make anything lovely for Mothers' Day?

<--Here I am with my friend Max and our fluffy classroom buddies selling our seeds!

Here I am checking our daffodil bulbs are healthy! -->

Remember to treat your Mums this Sunday!

Maggie's weekend adventure with Chloe

On Friday I left Cauldeen with Chloe and got to spend the weekend at her house.  We had lots of fun together and a really enjoyed being outside in the fresh air.

On Saturday I helped Chloe and her mum take their puppy Roxie for a walk.  Chloe made sure I was wrapped up nice and warm.  Later Chloe took me for a ride on her bike.  It was lots of fun, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

On Sunday I helped Chloe bake some fairy cakes.  We took them to her grandad's house to share them.  They were very tasty.  Yum yum.
