At the seminar in Reutlingen

Hey everybody,

last week I was watching an assessment because
the trainee teachers had their first assessment of the second state exam.

For the past seven months they’ve attended school and civil service law. The lecture took part every second Wednesday from half past two till six o’ clock. They got to know the legal background of their future job.

For the exam they had to learn lots of clauses by heart. For example, they needed to know when pupils get a suspension from school or how teachers have to behave. They also learned about the duty of supervision and what happens when they breach this duty.

The assessment was an oral exam that lasted 20 minutes.

In the exam the trainee teachers got an example case and had to comment on it or they had to solve a problem which occurred in the case.

Finally, the first exam is over and the trainee teachers can concentrate on their projects at school they have to bring to completion.

My week in Mengen

Hey guys!

I spent a wonderful week in Mengen which is a small town in the middle of nowhere. I got to know the pupils of grade 6 and we had a lot of fun together.

I was allowed to join the English lessons and the pupils informed me about their favourite free time activities during a TBLL lesson. The pupils were friendly and open-minded and they wanted to know more about me. So I told them about me as well.

On Wednesday, we even went to a climbing park in Bad Waldsee together. In the beginning I was really afraid because we had to climb very high through the treetops. But then there was a nice guy who explained everything to us. He gave us helmets and instructed us how to use the ropes. After that I felt much better. And in the end we had sooooooooooooo much fun – although it was raining very heavily. We were all wet and tired, but the day was awesome.

But this wasn’t the only thing I did in Mengen. On Friday, we spent one night at school. We were playing funny games and after making our own popcorn, we were watching a film. The pupils were divided into two classrooms. I was sleeping in the girls’ classroom. I made many new friends there. “Giri” is a very nice German giraffe for example. After a very long night, we were having breakfast at school.

This was a week full of new experiences and nice people…but the journey will go on!!!!

See you soon!

Eilidh

Eilidh in Beuren!!!

Hey there!

You cannot imagine what I did last week!! I was with Karina and our grade 5 and together we went to a special museum.

The latter is in Beuren and is an “open-air exhibition” where we were able to live in a way people did more than 200 years ago! That was just awesome!!! I visited five different houses and was surprised how the people had lived in the past. Of course there had not been a heating for the families but the guide told us that due to that fact the cowshed had been built next to the kitchen to bring warmth to the people! Isn’t that amazing??!!

Later on we were divided into two different groups. I decided to be part of the so called “fire-group”. A lady from the museum did a workshop with us. She showed us how a fire had been lighted more than 200 years ago. We even were allowed to try those different methods… but to be honest, I didn’t manage to light a fire but the little ones did!!

By the way, there was also a nice little bakehouse! I found a leaflet with different recipes there (you can see it in the picture)

I am looking forward to trying the the “Dätscher”- whatever that is =)

What a wonderful day in Beuren!!!

My week with Saskia

On Friday I went with Saskia, her father and her brother to play tennis. Starting from Monday I went with Saskia to the school, dance training and music school.
At music school I heard how Saskia played the flute. At the weekend we did shopping. On Monday I went with Saskia and her class to Padise adventure camp. We climbed there. On Wednesday there was a field day where Saskia did long jump and ran 60 meters.
We spent  a good time together.

By the way,

Estonian students got their certificates today!

Summer - here I come - they shouted loudly!

Have a nice summer holiday!

Sissi and I

TERE! (hello!)

So how are you? I,m fine, I even learned an Estonian words. Sissi my owner for the week took me to Tallinn. It,s  a lovely city. Sissi also has pets -  2 cats, 1 dog and 28 fish, I was scared of the cats because every time I got close to them they started hissing. Sissi’s mom Maris and dad Dave are fun too. Unfortunately she got sick but I got to meet her other fuzzy animals. At the weekend her mom took me shopping. Who knew that there are so many shopping centers in Tallinn? There are Viru keskus, Rocca al Mare, Kristiine keskus and many more. The last two days when she was healthy again we went to school and her singing rehersals in Meero. I had a wonderful time and my singing has approved. But I also miss home. Well anyway I hope everything is ok there!

Hi fellows!

I had a great time with Martin. We went out together and I met his friends and now they are my friends too. We went out almost every single day.
Also we went to a place where you can jump with bikes. We went also to the ramp.
Ramp is a place where you can climb.
AT the weekend we went to Helsinki by high speed catamaran. When we arrived to Helsinki  we went to our parents’ friends and we stayed there seven hours. Next day we went to a
concert in Finlandia Hall. Concert was a little bit boring.  After that we took a boat and came home.

How's the weather there? Here is quite warm already, kids are eager to outside instead of having classes.

See you,
Hamish

Road trip to Karlsruhe

This weekend I was with Julian. He is a teacher trainee at Burgschule Köngen. Köngen is a small town located east of Stuttgart. When I arrived in Julian´s flat in Nürtingen on Thursday, we first watched tv together. I really enjoy watching cartoons!!! I stayed overnight at his flat and Julian gave me his spare bed. Next morning we drove in Julians car to his school in Köngen. He invited me to watch his PE lesson. The students had to run very fast. I was glad that I didn´t have to join in because I have gained a little bit weight lately. After lessons he invited to a special road trip to his hometown in the wild west of Baden-Württemberg. I was looking forward to that because I have never seen the Black Forest before. So when we arrived in Karlsruhe the sun was shining and I could see the mountains in the distance. What I didn´t know was that Julian wanted me to help carrying his brother´s furniture to his new flat. It was really exhausting because it was the hottest day of the year and I still have my winter fur. But he bought me a big beer and I was happy again. Now we are going back to Nürtingen because Julian has to go to Reutlingen on Monday....
